Keeping her busy!

We have definitely been keeping Caroline busy so far this month!

Labor Day weekend we decided to go to Oceans of Fun. The weather was perfect, and it was surprisingly not very crowded.

This weekend Caroline had a cross country meet in Kansas City. I am so proud of her. With the mounds of homework every night and practice every afternoon she has not had much time for fun... and it does not help that her legs are sore all of the time from running! Hopefully both the homework and the running get easier soon!
And they are off!
After the meet we went to the Buffalo Bill Cody days in downtown Leavenworth. I am not sure what it is exactly, other than a chance for stores and organizations to advertise and sell stuff. They block off the street for a few blocks and have vendors on each side. we walked around for a bit and had some lunch before heading home.

Yesterday we had the first ASPECT meeting. It was nice to meet other host families and for Caroline to get a chance to meet other exchange students.

Ok.. I am all caught up with posting now! More pics can be found on the Photo's page.

(almost) a month!

It is hard to believe that on Friday Caroline has been here for a month. It feels like she has been a part of our family for much longer. It is not surprising however that I have not updated this blog since she has arrived. We have been so busy!

There was the first day of school...

And riding the Yellow school bus to school. The bus arrives at 7am which means we are up by 6 to get ready!

We have had rides on Papa's trike

and family dinners. This one was a shrimp boil

And family birthday parties with her first Apple Pie (I know that this is not a pic of Caroline... somehow I did not get one of her at Megan's birthday party, but she was there I promise!)

And Sira.. Megan decided that she wanted an Apple Pie for her Birthday cake just like you had!

Welcome Caroline!

Saturday was an exciting day in the Boettcher house as we welcomed Caroline into our family! Lauren was so excited until Caroline got off of the plane, and then she got shy and hid behind me. It did not take her long to warm up though.

Here she is!
Waiting for the luggage
After we brought Caroline home, we had to head over to my parents house for Gabrielle's Birthday, Neila's Goodbye and Caroline's Hello party. As usual there were a ton of people there, but I think that Caroline had a good time meeting everyone.
Happy Birthday Gabrielle!

This weekend the girls have pulled out every game wanting to play with Caroline. She has been a good sport and has played games, and watched TV with the girls.

It has been a good first couple of days. I think that Caroline is settling in, the girls love her. So far so good!

And do not feel sad Sira... Megan and Lauren talk about you ALL of the time to Caroline. They still love you too!

Waiting for Caroline

After a successful first experience hosting an exchange student for the 2010-2011 school year, we have decided to host once again! This time we had a little more lead time and actually chose a student in February. It has been wonderful to be able to have so much time to correspond and get to know her a little.

So now, after 5 months of writing and Skyping we have only a few more days left until we meet Caroline! I plan on keeping this blog up to date for her family back in Norway so that they can keep up with her life here in the states.
